Ta-lin Hsu is the founder and chairman of H&Q Asia Pacific. Since its inception, H&Q Asia Pacific has managed 23 funds of over US$2.7 billion in committed capital. Prior to founding H&Q Asia Pacific in 1986, Dr. Hsu worked at IBM for 12 years, reaching the position of senior manager in the research division — with corporate responsibility for advanced research and development of mass storage systems and technology — before joining Hambrecht & Quist as a general partner in 1985.
He served as Give2Asia's Chairman of the Board from 2011 to 2016.
Dr. Hsu received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley following a M.S. in electrophysics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and a B.S. in physics from National Taiwan University. Dr. Hsu was a founding member of the prestigious Technology Review Board of Taiwan, which was instrumental in the establishment of the country’s technology industry. Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Group, Primax Electronics Holdings, Ltd., are some of the boards of public and private companies Dr. Hsu currently serves.
Dr. Hsu is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Board Member of K.T. Li Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology, the Founding President of the Chinese Institute of Engineers / USA SF Bay Area Chapter.
