November 1, 2006 - On October 8, 2005, a massive earthquake shook northern Pakistan killing more than 73,000 people, injuring some 70,000 and leaving 3.5 million homeless.
In addition to the fatalities, the earthquake did severe damage to the infrastructure. Some 5,857 schools were damaged or destroyed, as were 585 medical facilities and 4,000 miles of road. In response to this crisis, Give2Asia created the Pakistan Earthquake Fund in collaboration with The Asia Foundation and Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy.
