July 3, 2007- (Xian, CHINA) Give2Asia project partner, Shaanxi Women Federation, brought me to visit the Shaanxi Provincial Women’s Prison. I met with 22 female criminals who were all sent to prison for killing or seriously injuring their husbands. The women were victims of domestic violence and all the stories I heard were shocking and sad.
June 15, 2007 - (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) - Last week I spent several days in Seoul, Korea with our client, Dr. Richard Boas, who adopted a baby from Korea 20 years ago. He is focused on supporting efforts to ensure that single mothers and unmarried mothers in Korea receive sufficient economic and social support.
February 25, 2007- (SRI LANKA) - Ms. Manel Samarasinghe is a Montessori teacher in Wilton, Connecticut. Upon hearing of the December 26, 2004 tsunami, Ms. Samarasinghe decided to raise money for tsunami relief. Working with Give2Asia, Ms. Samarasinghe and her friends created the Wilton Connecticut Fund and granted the money to the National Heroes Foundation to support the construction of houses for tsunami victims in the Kalutara district of Sri Lanka.
