Kai-Fu Lee & Weili Dai Join Give2Asia's Board of Trustees

Major Leaders in Technology Help Philanthropy Better Serve Pressing Needs in Asia

July 19, 2010 - (San Francisco, CA) - Give2Asia, a U.S.-based nonprofit, announces today that Ms. Weili Dai and Mr. Kai-Fu Lee are joining its Board of Trustees. The two prominent business executives will guide Give2Asia’s strategic growth and expand its platform of philanthropic services, which provide the tools and advice to support charitable projects in Asia.

“With their combined business and entrepreneurial skills, and their involvement in the philanthropic community, Ms. Dai and Mr. Lee bring valuable knowledge and unique perspective to our organization,” said Bill Kim, Chairman of Give2Asia’s Board of Trustees. “Ms. Dai is among the most-prominent businesswomen in the world today and a recognized technology industry pioneer. Mr. Lee is among Asia’s best-known Internet executives and business philanthropists. Together, these two technology leaders will help us better serve those in need across the region.”

Weili Dai
Ms. Weili Dai is the only woman co-founder of a global semiconductor company and one of the leading and most-recognized women business leaders in the world today. As co-founder of Marvell Technology Group Ltd., Ms. Dai has been a cornerstone of the company’s success since it began in 1995. She also actively promotes expanding access to technology in the developing world, and is an advocate for stronger relations between the US and China, particularly in the arenas of education and green technology.

In recognition of her family’s significant gift to the college, the University of California at Berkeley has named Sutardja Dai Hall in their honor. Sutardja Dai Hall is home to the world-renown Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS), which brings leading experts together to explore new and novel ways to use technology to serve humankind.

Kai-Fu Lee
Mr. Kai-Fu Lee is the Chairman & CEO of Innovation Works, an early-stage fund and incubator for high-tech start-ups, which is based in Shanghai. Having held senior positions within Google, Microsoft and Apple, Mr. Lee is one of the most prominent figures in China’s internet sector.

Mr. Lee’s philanthropic activities include the establishment of the Chinese Youth Development Fund in 2006 to address the difficulties faced by China’s youth in academic and career development. The fund has created an online resource and virtual community, www.5xue.com, which fosters professional development in young people. He also created a university lecture series to engage 500,000 young college students across China.
