Industree Crafts Foundation

Industree Foundation addresses the root cause of rural poverty in India by establishing ownership-based manufacturing enterprises for women micro-entrepreneurs in the farm and off farm sectors. Industree works simultaneously on economic empowerment and social empowerment, providing training and strategic hand-holding on how producers can best use their incomes to improve their quality of life and that of their families, and scale their enterprises.

Industree has successfully handheld two existing producer enterprises to sustainability: Bangalore Greenkraft (established in 2012) and Ektha Apparel (established in 2014). These enterprises have impacted over 2,000 producers, many of whom are owner-members through self-help group membership. Through these companies, creative producers have gained regular and increased income, and have been brought under a social security net through the provision of bank accounts, ID cards, and access to government health services.

Mission Creative Million is Industree’s strategy to scale this model across India through means of a digital societal platform, bringing one million creative producers into the formal global supply chain in the next decade, and thus achieving both economic and social impact. This digital platform will create an ecosystem for producers to access capital, design, training, markets and other necessary support, and ensure digitization and trace-ability of entire supply chains at scale, with an emphasis on digital financial inclusion.

Anticipated outcomes for producers:
