Fund Description
 JUCCCE is one of the only NGOs focused on actionable energy efficiency programs on the ground in China. Your donation to JUCCCE (Joint US-China Cooperation on Clean Energy) will support an array of high-impact initiatives, including: an educational program to provide Chinese mayors with near-term, results-oriented energy solutions; a Smart Grid planning initiative, intended to help China's relevant decision-making parties layout the requirements for a more efficient, nation-wide electrical network; and a large-scale light bulb exchange program that will create immediate energy savings, provide efficiency-related education and serve as a precedent-setting China Clean Development Mechanism program (CDM).
Today, no battle against climate change is effective without a clear strategy aimed directly at ground zero: China. Smokestacks do not respect borders; already, 30% of the smog in Los Angeles comes from China. And each year, China is continuing to build the equivalent of two Manhattans in new floor space. China's rapid growth must be met quickly with the education of its leaders to develop sustainably. Otherwise, China won't be a pair of butterfly wings - it will be a sledgehammer.
China's challenge is to compact the equivalent of 30 years of clean energy development in the West into the next 10 years. JUCCCE's role in this race is to bridge best practices and products from the West to key decision makers in China who are thirsty for knowledge. JUCCCE is the hub of a network of leaders who understand that mass collaboration, on a scale we have never before seen, is needed to visibly "move the needle."
