We'd like you all to get to know us better and learn more about the people who ensure that Give2Asia's programs and services are running smoothly and of the highest quality. Let's proceed to our next installment in our staff/intern interview series with Reza, our Vice President of Finance & Administration.
1. How did you get involved with Give2Asia?
G2A had a search for VP of Finance & Administration that caught my attention. At the time, I did not know anything about Give2Asia. After doing my research on the organization, I found the work G2A was doing in Asia interesting and something that I could be part of and contribute to. Fortunately the process with interviews went well and here I am!
2. What’s been your favorite Give2Asia project?
Being new to the organization, I have not had an opportunity to learn about all the numerous projects that we have had and currently have going on. With that said, I believe every project that we work on at G2A impacts many lives positively and makes the world a better place.
3. What do you do when you’re not working for G2A?
My hobbies are golfing (although I have not had a chance to get out in a long time), yoga, spending time with my family, cooking, traveling, and attending sporting events.
4. Where have you been to in Asia?
I am originally from Iran so naturally I have lived there. Unfortunately, I have not had opportunities to see any of the other countries in Asia.
5. If you could visit any country in Asia, where would you go?
There are many places that I would like to travel to such as China, Hong Kong, Thailand...
6. What’s the one thing people should know about Give2Asia?
They should know of the impact of the work we do in countries and communities we work in.
7. Favorite non-English word?
I would like to offer more that just a word - a poem titled Oneness of Mankind, which is inscribed on the United Nations building entrance, by famous Persian poet Sa'di Shirazi.
All men are members of the same body, Created from one essence.
If fate brings suffering to one member, The others cannot stay at rest.
You who remain indifferent
To the burden of pain of others,
Do not deserve to be called human.
8. Favorite phone app?
Waze. It’s by far, the best navigation application I’ve used.
9. Coffee or Tea?
Coffee in the morning and tea in the evening.
10. Football or Baseball?
Football, all the way.
11. Last song you listened to?
Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars
