Meet the Team: Ana

We'd like you all to get to know us better and learn more about the people who ensure that Give2Asia's programs and services are running smoothly. This month, we got to know more about our Program Manager Ana.

1.      How did you get involved with Give2Asia?

I first got involved in 2009 when I was looking for an unpaid internship for a class I was taking at the University of San Francisco. I interned at Give2Asia for 3 months and did a small project on all of their environmental programs, and the experience resonated with me enough to seek long-term employment here later.

2.    What has been your favorite Give2Asia project?

There have been so many! High on my queue right now is working on our Vietnam registration, which I’ve been doing for about a year so I know a lot about the registration process now. Every three years we have to renew our permit for operation in Vietnam, so I’ve gotten to learn all about how that works, and how much time it takes - it’s been almost a year now and we’re crossing our fingers!

3.      What do you do when you’re not working for G2A?

I try to spend a lot of time outside. I like hiking, being in nature, going to the beach, and spending time with my dogs as much as possible.

4.      Where have you been in Asia?

Predominantly the Philippines, where my family is from. I’ve also visited Beijing and Malaysia.

5.      If you could visit any country in Asia, where would you go?

Japan for sure.

6.    What’s the one thing people should know about Give2Asia?

We’re a small team, and we have downsized significantly, but we are very robust and can get the job done!

7.      Favorite non-English word?

I don’t think I have one… Although I do say “Ayya” a lot when I sneeze, which I think is the Mandarin sound for sneezing, but that might not count.

8.      Favorite phone app?

I hate to admit it but currently, Pokemon Go. Although my usage has dwindled significantly since it came out, just like everyone else’s seems to have.

9.      Winter or Summer?

Tough choice, I really like both and San Francisco is kind of a mix all of the time. But if I had to choose, summer.

10.  Spicy or Sweet?

Spicy.

11.  Math or History?

Math.

12.  Last song you listened to?

Lay me Down by The Dirty Heads
