We are excited to welcome Greening Australia’s CEO Brendan Foren and Director of Development Jonathan Duddles to Give2Asia for a Lunch and Learn event on Wednesday, July 12 at 12pm.
During this event, we will be hearing from Brendan and Jonathan about their Reef Aid program. The program works with local farming communities and indigenous owners to restore degraded wetlands, eroded rivers, and gullies to improve water quality on the Great Barrier Reef. This initiative is replicable across Asia and the world.
Greening Australia began in 1982 and has a Mission to conserve and restore landscapes at scale through collaborative, science-based and innovative conservation programs. As Australia’s largest conservation nonprofit, they believe that people thrive when nature thrives. Australia has one of the most diverse collections of animals and plants in the world and Greening Australia has several other Conservation projects such as Grassy Groundcover Restoration, Living Mortlock, WildEyre and Tasmanian Midlands.
All of these programs follow Greening Australia’s strategic plan called “Conservation without Borders.” This plan is set to remove the barriers that can sometimes get in the way of effective large-scale conservation in Australia. This plan involves removing barriers from within their organization as well as those between public and private lands, state and territory borders, competing environmental organizations and different sectors of the community.
We are looking forward to having Greening Australia in our San Francisco offices next week!
