Bareebo will dig 20 irrigation ponds for small-holder families in rural Cambodia so they can farm organic gardens year-round to improve their food security, and produce output for sale at local markets. This pond project is one component of a broader Bareebo program that will also provide trainings to these 20 families on organic food production and how to produce organic food for the market. This project will fund the production of 4 documentary films that will focus on efforts to revitalize traditional knowledges among indigenous and settler groups in Agusan del Sur, Northeastern Mindanao, Southern Philippines. Each film will explore one of the following topics: 1) traditional chants and instruments, 2) traditional massage and plant medicines, 3) traditional environmental knowledge in a marshland and holy mountain, and 4) traditional models for women empowerment and gender equality. This project will allow Margadarshi to provide financial assistance for one academic year for 30 children with disabilities from impoverished families, so that they may continue their studies and prevent them from dropping out of school. For more information, please click here.
