Agastya International, a Give2Asia partner that provides mobile science instruction for elementary school students, has been nominated for The Rockefeller Foundations's Next Century Innovator Award. The foundation compiled a list of 100 Global Innovators that will be voted upon by the public beginning on May 1, 2013. Three winners will receive grants from the Rockefeller Foundation for up to $100,000.
Agastya International operates 70 mobile science labs across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, India and has reached over 5 million children and 150,000 teachers. Agastya also runs a Creativity Lab located on a 172-acre campus near Bangalore. Both programs are designed to spark creative-thinking and problem-solving skills, improve learning achievement, raise confidence and expand opportunities. Agastya is currently scaling up to 200 mobile labs and has been endorsed for an India-wide scale-up from the Prime Minister's Knowledge Commission.
