Thanks to everyone who participated in Give2Asia's first country profile webinar, which was held on November 19. The webinar, "Philanthropy's Role in Australia," provided an overview of the social sector in Australia, and explored how non-profits engage with donors to maximize their capacity and increase impact. Please see below for some additional highlights that we gathered from the webinar.
1) Australia’s growing economy increases inequity, which disproportionately affects indigenous and rural community’s access to educational and STEM opportunities, quality health care, and affordable housing;
2) There are 600,000 nonprofits in Australia, which makes partnership and collaboration between non-profits vital in order to grow and thrive;
3) Cost of living in Australia is increasing dramatically; thus, when donors are establishing partnerships with non-profits a balance between program and operational budgets is key;
4) When developing employee engagement opportunities it is important for donors to identify the true needs of the non-profits, their capacity to engage volunteers, as well as the needs of the community.
