William H. Taylor CMC
Having been a management consultant for over 45 years, Bill (although now “semi-retired”) still accepts an occasional assignment in the greater Seattle area. Focusing his practice in the area of Strategic Pay and Personnel Issues, he works exclusively with the Boards of Directors and CEOs of privately held, for-profit, Pacific Northwest companies. His efforts are devoted to helping organizations align their reward systems with their values, cultures, and strategic goals. Often this evolves into strategic planning, goal setting, success measurements, team building, group problem solving skills and related efforts.
Currently, Bill spends most of his time and energy with his non-profit work in SE Asia. With his SE Asia Foundation, Bill is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for those less fortunate. Believing strongly that the key to this is education – and especially educating girls – Bill seeks out and supports organizations working to educate children and provide job skills training to women. His unique approach to this support involves funding coupled with coaching to improve management skills and the long-term sustainability of the organization. Traveling to the region four times each year, Bill remains a “hands-on” consultant.
Bill also is an active partner in the Together We Can Change The World (TWCCTW) group, along with Scott Friedman, Jana Stanfield, and many other talented speakers, authors, and trainers committed to the same goals of helping the impoverished to a more self-sustaining life in SE Asia.
As a co-founder of Donworth, Taylor & Co., a Seattle based HR and labor relations management consulting firm, he consulted in that capacity for 13 years from 1975 through 1988. Prior to that he was a consultant with Price Waterhouse & Co. in Los Angeles and Seattle for nine years. His early experience also includes nine years in both line and staff positions in Southern California industry.
His long record of active service in the Institute of Management Consultants includes Past President of the Pacific Northwest Chapter. From 1989 to 1991 he served as Vice President for the Pacific Western Region and as a member of the National Board of Directors. After that he served a three-year term as one of the three U. S. Trustees to the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). A long time Rotarian, he was an active member of the Downtown Seattle Rotary Club No. 4 for 25 years. He was also active in the American Compensation Association and the Northwest Compensation Forum, and has served as a director of the ACT Theater and the Seattle Center Foundation in Seattle. He is a Snohomish County Master Gardner and for two years served as President of the Edmonds in Bloom Association.
Bill and his wife, Pat, live in Edmonds, just north of Seattle. What little spare time there is is spent gardening, wandering around the country in his motorhome, hiking, fly fishing, playing poker, rooting for the Mariners, staying fit, and playing with Corvettes.
