Help to educate 23 children with functional difficulties based on their special needs in 2019/2020 academic year with $250

The Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM), based on its national survey findings on children with disabilities and their education, intends to help children with functional difficulties. We propose to promote children’s right to education and through provision of appropriate educational services. The first step is the preparation of Individual Educational Plans tailored to the special needs of children with disabilities for the 2019/2020 academic year.

According to the national survey findings of 2019, in Tsagaannuur soum of Khuvsgul province, 23 children were identified with functional difficulties. Research shows that they are at a ‘high risk’ of dropping out of the school and spiraling into a life of limited opportunity. Due to the remoteness of the Khuvsgul province and their families’ ethnic nomadic life style, these dukha (ethnic minority) children are destined to remain largely marginalized without the provision of adequate school infrastructure and teaching capacity to meet their special needs.

A proven effective way of promoting appropriate educational services for these children is to include them in special training programs based on their needs in accordance with their tailored Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). IEPs will be developed through established ‘Support Teams’ at school. Your donation of $250 per child will give an important boost to the chances these 23 dukha high risk children receive a sound education. Education is every child’s right.
